New Pentax Optio W80 Camera and Open Sky Shop
Taking my new Pentax Optio W80 digital camera out for a test ride and talking about a new shop I just open up. atlasrider.theopenskyproject.com
this Pentax Option M40 isn't turning on properly. It turns on then makes a clicking sound as it tries to auto-focus. It could be due to the fact that it was sat on while on one day. See my other eBay auctions here. shop.ebay.ca

Question by Ron D: Does anyone know if some one made a conversion kit for a Pentax film SLR to a digital camera?
I hate to abandon my my Pentax film camera its a Super program SLR, I wandered if a replacement CCD back kit to convert it to the digital age.

No. Leica tried that about four years ago. The back cost more than a DSLR camera, so after a couple of years, Leica dropped that product.
Just buy a good Pentax DSLR and use the lenses you have on both. I still have 3, 35 mm SLR's which I use from time to time.

How do you manage to voice record while riding without all the wind noise? Is this Pentax camera mounted on your helmet? Sorry if these are stupid questions.

@iFischer08 I discuss this in detail in a blog post on my website (atlasrider(dot)com). Search for “40,000 miles later” and “Ninja 650r”
March 12th, 2011 - 04:52
@AtlasRider Have you had to do any major work to the 650r? I have 18 on my ‘06 and just wondering what all I have to look forward too.
Also how often do you change your oil?
March 12th, 2011 - 05:26
@iFischer08 I bought an addition bike, a KLR650. I switch between them. I have over 50,000 miles o the 650r now.

I haven’t watched your channel in a while, but I thought you switched bikes from the 650r? How many miles are on it now?

Hey AtlasRider. That’s a nice cam you got there. It’s a bit bouncy, and you should place it a tad higher, it tends to film a bit too much concrete and not enough were you’re looking. Appart from that, it seems it has a hard time adjusting to the ambiant light. Other than that, the quality is pretty good ! Keep posting !!

I wish I could pop my camera off and wave goodbye.

Decent picture on the video, but it handles the lighting changes horribly.

@AtlasRider That’s mainly why I want that one, because of the swivel lens. You can do that you say in fact. haha The thing is I had problems with velcro with my last setup with a kodak zx1, it just kept unsticking from the chinbar. That’s why Im looking at the regular camera on top of the chinbar setup and why I asked you if it was just loose in there. I’m not sure what to do.
March 12th, 2011 - 10:52
@F8H Doesn’t bounce around much. I never heard of the Sony Bloggie. Was just looking at it. Looks cool! You might be able to mount it to the chin bar. I wonder if you could swivel it at the road and then back at your face while you’re riding, lol
March 12th, 2011 - 10:54
@AtlasRider Doesn’t it bounce around a lot? I am looking for a new camera but don’t know if this setup would be too obtrusive for recording constantly all the time when I’m riding but I don’t want to buy a bullet cam setup. I was looking at the new sony bloggie. What do you think? Thanks!

yea good location for an ipod mount, after seeing one of your vidoes i put a ram mount on my 650r in the same spot best 10$ i ever spent, thanks
March 12th, 2011 - 11:44
@F8H Got it from a 3rd party seller on Amazon, and it just rests there. No velcro
March 12th, 2011 - 11:56
Where did you get that camera so cheap? Getting interested hehe and do you just rest it against your visor or is it velcroed?
March 12th, 2011 - 12:24
Great vid, love the new camera!

If you take your eyes off the road, things happen, and it’s not usually good. The trucker was not drunk or impaired, but now he has a nightmare to live with for the rest of his life. One of the guys badly injured was a Captain at a fire station in Phoenix. He was on a bike and not a fireman who responded to the scene. It looks like they were all Harley’s.

March 12th, 2011 - 15:48
any idea how to fix this? i have the same problem with my camera!
March 12th, 2011 - 16:07
to be honest at this point it is cheaper to buy new. I got a M50 which is a year neawer than this and it replaced the M40 which had rapair costs almost as high as buying a new camera.
if wondering how the M40 broke it broke when I was trying to take a picture and got pushed from behind I lost my balance and the camer fell and I fell on top of it.
good news is I was ok
