Q&A: Will my manual lenses from my old 35mm non-working camera work on a digital slr body camera?
Question by Robert S: Will my manual lenses from my old 35mm non-working camera work on a digital slr body camera?
I have three great working manual lenses from my old Sears SLR 35MM camera. These lenses are Pentex K mount. Will they work on a digital SLR camera body as long as it is also a K mount digital camera.

As long as the mounts are the same it should work but there is only way to be sure - try it. Be careful - don't force anything. Take it to a professional camera store for the best advice - they can probably tell you by looking at it. Good luck.

Yes as long as you get a Pentax dSLR it will work seamlessly. You will be using the lens at manual focus in aperture-priority or manual modes only. Great for those used to the old film SLRs. There is a crop factor to consider due to the digital sensor’s smaller size (compared to a frame of film)so that 50mm is no longer normal but short tele and 35mm is just above normal.
Just one warning though. Check (and research about it) if your K-mount lens has the Ricoh pin. That pin may or may not get stuck in the newer dSLR mount while mounting (it will not mount completely if it gets stuck). Do not force the lens out in case it happens. Just look for the thinnest but sturdy plastic sheet you can find and use it to coax the pin down while you twist the lens out. It would be best to find a way to remove that pin or glue it permanently so it won’t get in the way.
